Bun Festival
Cheung Chau (Long Island) is a strange mix of modern and traditional Hong Kong. For four days, this festival includes parades, opera performances; children dressed in colourful costumes and most importantly the bun towers - large bamboo structures several stories high, piled with sweet buns. The men of the town race up the towers grabbing as many buns as they possibly can! It's a sight you can't miss!!! The festival itself is a combination of praying to gods, ganged together, and to navigate the lost spirits.
Join Saffron Cruises for this beautiful festivity. We will embarque in Aberdeen Marina, and set sail into Cheung Chau Island to see the amazing procession and join in the bun tower celebrations. A fantastic seafood feast will be served at one of the most legendary restaurants on this island.

Tin Hau is the Chinese goddess of the sea, making her particularly significant to the sea-dominated city of Hong Kong. The fishing town of Sai Kung is at the heart of the celebrations for the goddess' birthday;
Every year traditional rites are pragmatic at community temples, but more eye-catching are the colourful parades of floats, fireworks and lion dances and the sailing of hundreds of multicoloured junks and sampans in Victoria Bay and beyond.
